One of my favorite parts of working with our Designheads team (Ally, Juliyen, Sahir, and Sharlene) is the sheer amount of knowledge and fascinating content they each bring to their respective roles and our work together. We’ve started somewhat of a tradition (being a remote team), where we begin every meeting with the question, “What did you see on the internet this week?” This-icebreaker-turned-thought prompt has led to a range of interesting conversations, stemming from design but eventually leading to a weird and wonderful list of topics (one memorable conversation centered around the coincidental strangeness of our dream lives 👽).
As an experiment, I’ve decided to try and capture a bit of that for you all, rounding up the internet fruit shared during this week’s Zoom. Here is what we found this week while wading through the deep and mysterious sea that is the internet:
Ally, a member of our art department, found Sorted Cities, a “an ever-growing collection of posters, based on building footprints that have been sorted by size and shown in proportion to each other.”
Juliyen, one of our editor-writers, found Primitive Hut, a combination archive of huts (more obviously) and hats (less obviously, until you consider that a hat is really a hut for the head).
Sahir, another editor-writer, found LOOK ONE: an IG that shares one model + one look, every day. (Archives were a big theme this week!)
Sharlene, another member of our art department, fittingly shared some furniture - this time by Madeline Isakson.🪑
And me? Well, I’ve been immersed in beating Pokemon HeartGold ever since I figured out how to put it on my phone, and have been thinking a lot about the furniture of Pokemon world (especially the leap from 2D to 3D). In doing so, I discovered that no one has taken @pokemonfurniture on IG. So now I have it 😎
