Designheads is a cute profile series featuring members of our community and their relationship to the world of design.
Design and photography have been forever intertwined, but we love being challenged to examine objects in new and mind-altering ways. In her work, Lara Lussheimer Kancepolski captures the “visual potential” of the everyday, transforming stock objects like computers, irons, belts, and more into a language of her own. “…The expressive potential of metaphors within our socio-cultural awareness, as well as the inherent possibilities of materials, objects, and our surroundings,” as she puts it.

Are you a designhead? What does that mean to you? I think so. To be open-minded (and open heart too)
The last thing you made: An infinite video of an infinite scroll.
The next thing you want to make: An exhibition with my photographies
A design object you love: Usually, everyday objects that I find I'm interested in.
A design object you can’t stand the sight of: I get scared when the tape measure closes fast
A moment of pure creative joy: While walking through the streets in contact with everything there is.
What does it mean to "design the future"? Change or preserve as necessary. Therefore, continue to seek ideas and reasons to pay attention to, highlight, and care for what is important and already exists on Earth.
Words to live by: You don't lose if you learn something (Beatles' answer in an interview)
Your aesthetic embodied as a ...
song: “I'm This” by Peter Cat Recording Co
color: The color of whatever it may be, just as it is.
texture: Tough textures, although they may rust, endure.
scent: The smell of extinguishing a match
What's one design object that has your same energy? My black coat with two pockets so big, so big that there's no need to carry a bag; I can fit absolutely everything in there and take it with me wherever I go. It's like a version of Mary Poppins' bag or the pouch of a kangaroo.
If you could show your work to anyone in the world, it would be: From anyone to everyone
What’s next for you? That's exactly what I wonder too, so — see you soon with the answers.
